A cross-sectional study of physical activity attitudes and preferences of individuals with opioid use disorder
2022, Mental Health and Physical ActivityTobacco and cannabis use as moderators of the association between physical activity and alcohol use across the adult lifespan in the United States: NHANES, 2005–2016
2022, Preventive MedicineCitation Excerpt :Research indicates negative physical activity-tobacco use associations (Lisha and Sussman, 2010). Tobacco use causes immediate detrimental effects on heart and lung functioning (e.g., breathing difficulties) that are incompatible with physical activity (Conway and Cronan, 1992; Dunn and Wang, 2003; Lisha and Sussman, 2010; Penderson et al., 1992). In contrast, the association between physical activity and cannabis use is unclear, with some research suggesting negative, positive, or null associations (West et al., 2020); whereas, current cannabis users are more likely to meet physical activity recommendations (Vidot et al., 2017).

2020, Primary Care DiabetesCitation Excerpt :Within this category, the study included perceptions and experiences of disease, insufficient health, coexisting disease, and feeling unwell [22]. One possible explanation for the association between general health and physical activity adherence is that those that feel healthier are more physically able to move [23]. Those with poorer health may suffer from barriers such as pain [24], fatigue, difficulty breathing and other physical limitations [25], and hospitalizations [26].
