Model 2a: proportion of households with positive Q4 spending. Model 2b: IHS-transformed Q4 expenditures among households with positive spending. Models controlled for characteristics of the household reference person (age, race, gender and marital status), fourth quarter characteristics of the household (size, income, state and year and month of survey participation) and a change in household characteristics between the first and fourth quarters (income change, size change, state unemployment change and decrease in earners).
